Deutsches Museum

We visited the Deutsches Museum on the 3rd day of our stay in Munich. I would say the people in Munich were lucky to have such informative museum. It is a great place for school kids and even for undergraduate in universities. In addition, I think it is also a good place for the public to gain their general knowledge. More

Hohenschwangau and Neuschwanstein castle

Our next destination on second day in Germany was the fairy-tale king’s castles Hohenschwangau and Neuschwanstein in Schwangau bei Füssen. The journey from Munich to Füssen was not easy as I thought. We took subway to the Central railway station, took the train to Buchole, and then changed to other train from Buchole to Füssen. Done? Not yet. We have to take bus from Füssen city centre to the castles. More

Old Town Munich 03

After lunch, we continued to stroll around the old town of Munich. We were a bit hard to believe that it is not easy to find a convenience store for a bottle of drinking water in Munich. We tried to search around the shopping streets but no luck until we arrived at the Viktualienmarkt. We climbed up the tower of Frauenkirche (DOM) for view of Munich city. Next was Fünf Höfe complex and came to Residenz, the former residence of Bavarian kings and home of the Wittelsbach dynasty. More

Old town Munich 02

We walked further down from the Marienplatz for our lunch. We were told by traveller guidebooks that we should not miss the Bavarian traditional food. They recommended Weißes Bräuhaus. The restaurant seems is local favourite restaurant, we saw many German come in for lunch and not much tourists (perhaps it still early for lunch at that time). We ordered the traditional pork knuckle, which also strongly recommended by many travellers in Internet and off course the German beer either. Both of us sat at kind of long table in the front hall; an old German couple joined our table later. Unfortunately, they can’t speak English and we can’t speak German. However, they did try to communicate with us with their extremely limited English. Hum, lovely old couple. More

First times in my life I have one-week vacation in two different countries in Europe. I mean, a real vacation not back to home. Our first stop was Munich old town. Staying in the Motel One Muenchen-Sendlinger Tor which nearby the old town and close to the subway station. I have my review of this hotel shared in TripAdvisor.

About 10 minutes walking from the hotel, we arrived at the Marienplatz, historical Central Square. During our visit, it was Christophers street day. There was a parade on 12 noon. Well, this was our first times experience to see this kind of parade and the Christophers street day. More
