life-in-an-island

Before I continue, do you remember the children photo I posted on my previous topic? Have you noticed their suit? Yes, that is Finnish winter suit for kids. It made of water proof, wind proof materials. This will ensure kids will not get cold while they are playing outside during winter. Do you notice their shoes? That is rubber boots. Boots made of real rubber, water proof and wind proof. It keep kids warm all the time. We felt that was special, maybe we never saw that before in Malaysia. However, my supervisor told me the other way round. You only can find this kind of winter suit for kid in Finland. Look at the photo again, see what is the different.

After visit Suomenlinna Museum, we went for our lunch at Restaurant Café Chapman, the only restaurant open for business during that time. It was a buffet style lunch cost €12 per person. My girlfriend said it was an expensive lunch in her life (it is about RM 55) and also her first Finnish food. Haha… After the lunch we continued our tour. We walk ahead to the King’s gate. Along the way, we came across a submarine, Vesikko anchoring at Suomenlinna. This submarine was made in Turku for Germany in the year 1933 and was redeemed in 1936. The submarine was used during the Second World War in Finnish navy. Finally we arrive at the King’s gate. It is a symbol of the Suomenlinna. It facing to the sea and it was very windy. It really made us felt cold and ran away from there after snapped a couple of photos. We decided to take ferry back to Market place before the sky turned to dark.
