Katajanokka district to Winter Garden then Sea Life

Today was the last day for our holiday at Helsinki. After have our breakfast at hostel, we walked to the Katajanokka district. Crossing the bridge near to the Kauppatori, the Uspenski Cathedral which built in the year 1868 is immediately us. There were many old and new warehouses at this district, some of the old warehouses were converted into restaurants or shops. This district is totally surrounding by sea; therefore, it was really windy during our tour. For this reason, we don’t spend much time at here. It too cold to us and made us felt uncomfortable. After a short walk at here, we decided went for our lunch.

After lunch, we took tram ahead to the Winter Garden. We stopped at the Ooppera station and walked a bit further. Frankly speaking, we were a bit disappointed when we inside the Winter Garden. Plants grow inside the green house but not so many species. Mostly the plants there we can found in Malaysia. We understand that we can’t expect more because this is a Nordic country. After this, we decided pay the Sea life a visit which not very far away from the Winter Garden.

It was a bit unfortunate part of Sea Life still under renovation during our visit. To be frank, we felt that not worth to pay 12.50€ per person for this trip. I don’t know what about now maybe they have finished all renovation works and more aquariums to show. We really expected something special but unfortunately not so many. Most impressed is the octopus feeding programme. We managed to observe clearly how the octopus inside the tank “takes” its food. The other one was the baby of the stingray. It looks so alien and so special. Just look at the photos, you will understand what I mean here. The tour at Sea Life was short. We took tram again back to the city centre and walked back to our hostel to pack our baggage.

Helsinki county prison; you can’t believe it,right? The prison in Turku is the most beautiful prison in Finland. It is up the hill and have nice view on Turku.
