Google had designed a series of Olympic game logos during the Beijing 2008 Olympic games. If you notice them carefully, the characters in those logos are actually 12 Chinese zodiac animals.

Chong Wei touched by show of support

SEPANG: Lee Chong Wei returned home yesterday with a heavy heart after his failure to nail the first gold medal for Malaysia in the Olympics.

But getting a hero’s welcome at the Kuala Lumpur International Aiport (KLIA) brought back the smile on his face. About 300 people with huge congratulatory banners greeted Chong Wei and the Malaysian badminton team at the arrival hall to the beat of the kompang and thunderous applause.[......]

Of course, he returned home with heavy heart. BUT, just put yourself in his shoes. Can you mange to handle yourself when facing such huge pressure from the audience, supporters, 27 million people’s hope?

He was not doing well in that game, I bet, he didn’t want it too.

　　奥运官方网站8月15日讯北京时间18：30在北京工业大学体育馆举行了羽毛球男子单打半决赛，由来自韩国的李炫一挑战2号种子马来西亚名将李宗伟，结果李宗伟以2-1艰难拿下了对手，成功晋级决赛，三局比分分别为21-18、13-21和21-13。
　　第一局开始，李宗伟开局就打出5-2的比分，并且一直保持优势，以11-7进入技术暂停，进入半决赛的选手实力上都相差不多，李炫一的下压球均被李宗伟破解，李宗伟的在速度今天占了优势，比分一直是处于领先。李宗伟在后场球上的几个判断失误被李炫一连续扳分，李宗伟此时以18-17领先，李炫一出现发球失误，19-17，李宗伟在又拿下一球的情况下，以20-17领先，拿到局点，虽然之后李宗伟出现失误，送给对手一分，但是李炫一回球将球击出了界外，首局遗憾的以18-21输掉，李宗伟从而拿下首局。
　　第二局比赛开始，双方都加快了进攻速度，比分也一直持平，打得很焦灼，李宗伟的进攻明显不像首局那么自信，并且频频在点杀上失误，而李炫一却抓住机会，同样的点杀却频频得手，在李宗伟手感不太好的悦下，将比分拉大到16-6领先，但是李炫一的失误也是频频给李宗伟送分，在比分17-11时，虽然李宗伟要求换球拍，但是并没有改变局势，第二局21-13，李炫一扳回一局。两人进入决胜局比赛。
　　第三局比赛开始，李宗伟换上了深色球衣，而李炫一戴上了护腕，李宗伟利用网前对角球，拿到一分开局，第二个球也是利用网前的优势，再拿一分，多次利用网前小球进行攻击，李宗伟打出7-1的优势开局，虽然李炫一细腻的网球小球也接连得分，但是李宗伟速度、网前小球，扣杀组织的进攻成功率都非常高，两人以11-7交换场地。此后，顽强的李炫一奋力追赶比分，一度扳为11-10，仅一分落后，而在后半段，李宗伟开始了发力，并且充分显示了自己的信心，将比分再次拉开，以18-11领先，李宗伟利用网前的快速扣杀，再得一分，而李炫一以同样的方式也是细腻的网前扣杀扳回一分，19-12。在李宗伟再拿到一分的情况下，也拿到了此场比赛的赛点，并以21-13拿下了第三局。
　　在决赛中，李宗伟将很有可能面对头号种子选手林丹，再次上演羽毛球的巅峰对决。而林丹与自己的队友陈金争夺决赛入场券的比赛将在今天20：30举行。（郝彦明）

Finally, the 51st Merdeka Logo (Logo Hari Kemerdekaan ke 51) was announced. Congratulations to the winner, Mr. Anuar Dan who won RM10,000 for his piece of art. Have a look on his art works too at this site.

I had slightly edited this 51th Merdeka logo in conjunction with Malaysia’s 51st Independence Day celebrations and share them to all of you.

Chinese cuisine in English 中文菜单英文译法

China had tried their best to standardised English translation of Chinese cuisine during the Olympic game in Beijing. It is indeed a wise decision. Why? Have a look on the pictures below.

Just imagine, a foreigner who can’t read Chinese and he/she has to read the English in that menu. What happen next? Shame isn’t it?

Therefore, standardised English translation of Chinese cuisine is a great move. It is not only benefit Chinese restaurants in China but Chinese restaurants around the World too.

One Million Star 超級星光大道 02

One Million Star 超級星光大道 season 3 is going to be finalized soon. However, what I’m talking here is not related to the candidates but a Malaysian who had worked for this programme. He worked as part time worker for the programme but now he already left the team after finished his tertiary study in Taiwan.

He made this song in order to give his support to all candidates of One Million Star 超級星光大道 season 3. By the way, he is making another his is own documentary for Malaysians abroad while on his way back to Malaysia. Read details in his blog. I wish him good luck and all the best.

His controversy song ~ Negarakuku had caused some trouble to his family and himself in Malaysia. No doubt, he became famous after that matter. His supporters have a website up for him and Wikipedia has an article described about him. He stressed that he LOVEs Malaysia.

The first solar eclipse for this century happened on 1st Augsut 2008. This lucky guy managed to take the video for solar eclipse on the aeroplane from altitude of 27,000 feet from a location 140 km east of Cambridge Bay, Nunavut.

Day trip to Naantali

We visited Naantali on weekend of week 27. The weather was good, sunny day and not so windy. We spent a couple of hours there and enjoyed coffee and cake in the sun. Naantali, sunshine town, one of the historical towns in Finland. When speaking of Naantali, children in Finland will like it very much. Why?

The Muumimaailma (Moominworld) is on the island of Kailo near to Naantali old town. What Muumi (Moomin) is? Have a look at here. Besides, Muumi is well know in Japan too. Well, let’s the pictures tell our trip.

This is the way to the Muumimaailma (Moominworld). You can see many parents and children were heading this way when you were there. Moominworld only open in Summer. Besides this, you can see there are several Moomin trains go around Naantali old town but you have to buy the Muumimaailma ticket first.

Medieval market

On Saturday (28.06.2008), my wife and I visited the Medieval market here. I missed twice the Medieval market (normally in the end of June or beginning of July) here. Luckily, I don’t miss it this year.

Flutes make by wood, skin of tree and animal hoods

Hand made goods with wood, metal, and clay. Have you seen an army booth there? Want to have a sword, arm shield, arrow or bow? Really impressive.

This grill booth really caught our attention. Can you see the whole pig? We felt excited with the way they served their food. Food was served on a piece of birch tree skin (Of course, during Medieval time they don’t have paper plate). The taste of that grill pork meat very similar to roasted pork we used to have back home. Ah… memories were recalled. By the way, when we returned to the grill booth again, have a look what we saw. Oh, don’t forget the sausage booth too. They served sausages on cabbage leaf. We bought two sausages for ourselves, how could we missed that?
