Underwater World Langkawi

On the next day morning, after our breakfast we went swimming at Cenang beach. Of course, how can we miss swimming since we were in an island with many beaches around? Approximately an hour later, we started to pack our luggage because our flight to Penang was in the late afternoon.

After everything had done, we went to our last destination, Underwater World Langkawi. We were right about our decision on the first day in Langkawi. An hour in Underwater World Langkawi was not enough. We spent about 2 hours there.

bat-cave

After the fish farm, we ahead to a cave, bat cave. The boat man jut passed us torchlight and he waited at the small jetty near to the bat cave. We were on our own to explore the cave (not scary, don’t worry). When we stepped near to the cave, awful smell was sneaked in to our noses immediately. I think you know what cause that smell, right? With torchlight we have, we managed to see many bats hung at the roof of the cave. The journey in that bat cave was not long, it just took a while then we returned to the boat again.

crocodile-cave

After the eagle feeding, our mangrove tour continued. We ahead to a cave named as cave of crocodile. Of course, there was no crocodile but it named after it because it was there long time ago. The water level was not too high therefore we managed to go through the cave on the boat.

After the cave of crocodile, we were on our way to fish farm. We had good time there. The fish farm owner introduced us several fishes he had there. I’m sorry, I can’t remember their name. On that fish farm, he showed us how he feeds the fishes. We were impressed with the stingrays. They are huge. During the feeding process, the owner asked me to touch the stingrays. I did. The skin of the stingray is really rough. According to the farmer, before we have the sandpaper people used the stingray’s skin for the same purpose. Well, good to know.

eagle-feeding

After we had our lunch at Oriental Village, we decided to go to the Waterfall just before the Seven Wells not go up to the hill for Seven Wells. We felt a bit disappointed when we arrived at the Waterfall. The water is not as clean as during my last visit in the year 1995. It is dirty and drying. As a result, we don’t stay long at there.

We continued our journey to the Tanjung Rhu for some beautiful scenery. We saw the Tanjung Rhu beach and tried to look for a nice place for scenery view. However, we end up arrived at a jetty. Well, we stopped the car and came out to have a look. One of boat men approached us and offered us for approximately 2 hours mangrove tour and eagle feeding. We heard about this mangrove tour and eagle feeding but we never thought we can get this tour package from Tanjung Rhu. Normally, it will departs from the jetty of Klim River.

langkawi-suspension-bridge

After stopped at the Kok beach for a while, we continued our journey to Langkawi cable car. It located at the Oriental Village. However, we don’t spend our time at the Oriental Village. We just went directly to the Langkawi cable car station, stepped into a cable car and the journey to the summit of Macincang Mountain (Gunung Macinchang) began.

On the journey to the summit of Macincang Mountain, we saw the Seven Wells clearly from the sky. We stopped at the last cable car station on the summit of Macincang Mountain which about 708 metres above the sea level. You can have a very nice spectacular view from here. There is a suspension bridge allows you to enjoy the nature and also the view around too. When we were stand still on the bridge to take some photos, we felt the bridge was a little bit wobble. That feeling made us became a little bit nervous. Would you? Look at the picture then you will know.

Yacht-Marina

On the next day, we decided not to take any group tour but we rented a car to tour around Langkawi Island. Honestly, you are hard to get lost in Langkawi because there are several main roads only. Besides, it is an island unless you want drive to the sea if not you can’t get out from it.

Our first destination was Telaga Harbour Park (Yacht Marina). From the resort, we drove along the Pantai Cenang road toward to Pantai Kok road. The scenery along the road was beautiful and the weather was of course hot. We have stopped at the road side for a couple of photos. Then, we continued our journey.

In the afternoon tour (it was a group tour), we met up with other visitors from China. I believed they are studying in Malaysia. Well, the first stop for the group tour was the Underwater World Langkawi. However, we don’t join them because we knew an hour was not enough for that visit. We have other plan for this visit since it is near to our resort. We have a long walk along the Cenang beach, of course it was hot.

Langkawi

After our civil marriage, we have our short vacation in Langkawi Island. We departed from Penang International Airport. Yes, we flew to Langkawi. After compared the ferry’s fees and the air ticket’s fee, we decided to give Firefly a try. Firefly, a new budget airline (100% subsidiary of MAS) starts to fly on April 2007 and based at Penang International Airport.

Well, the journey from Penang to Langkawi Island took us approximately 40 minutes. This was the first time both of us on board a Fokker 50 air craft; we really have unforgettable experience on this “lovely” Fokker 50.
