Our digital camera still managed to squeeze out some power from batteries occasionally, but not all the time. Therefore, we still able to take one or two photos before it completely out of function. After the Amurinlinna residential area, we walked ahead to the southern side of the Hämeenpauisto Park and up to a hill, the Näsinpuisto Park.

journeying-tamepre-view

We left for Tampere on 6th January 2006 early morning by train. We chose train because it is much convenience to us. Besides, European train service is well established and we never try the train service in Finland yet, I mean us together. The journey from Turku to Tampere was about one and half hours, not too long on the train but nice. We have chance to have a look on winter scenery. However, I forgot to take some photos regarding this winter scenery.(Actually both of us were slept for a while at that moment)

source: Archipelago of Finland

We have a field trip to Hilappajärvi Lake at Kustavi, the northern part of the Archipelago of Finland this morning. Leaving from BioCity, Turku and took us about 45-50 minutes drive to arrive the jetty at Kivimaa. The lake is at the other island and the island is connects by a yellow ferry. A couple minutes of waiting, the yellow ferry arrived. Our journey continued when the yellow ferry arrived at the jetty of Vartsala. With my supervisor car GPS help finally we found the lake. One of my colleagues jumped (actually just walk only) into the lake and start hunting for his project’s sample, Lake Quillwort. What we were doing?

journeying-Sculpture-Harmony

After visited Forum Marinum, we decided to walk along the Aurajoki River side to Kauppatori. Immediately us was the sculpture “Harmony” by artist Achim Kühn. Further up a bit from the Forum Marinum there was Turku Energy’s power plant with “Fibonacci sequence 1-55” on its chimney. After that, we arrived at Turku Guest Marina and further up there was a river ferry called Föri; one of Turku’s best known landmarks, a small ferry carrying pedestrians and bicycles across the Aurajoki River for free. We tried it to across the river (^_^).

journeying-suomen-jousten

We can’t visit many places because those places closed during winter, just like the Sigyn (the last wooden three-masted sail powered trading vessel in the world) Suomen Jousten (a training ship for the Navy in 1930,eight long ocean voyages were sailed before the second world war) and Minelayer Keihässalmi (the first minelayer of the Finnish Navy built after the second world war) at Forum Marinum.

journeying-aboa-vetus

The other historical place we have visited in Turku was Aboa Vetus (old Turku) and Ars Nova (New art) museums. Aboa Vetus (old Turku) was an old city under the ground 7 meters. It was discovered by accident in the early 1990s during renovation work. Aboa Vetus is a medieval town block, an old Turku. Inside this museum, we can walk along centuries-old streets and look at the living environment in a medieval town, the home of medieval residents. When we were inside this museum, the River Aurajoki of Turku is just above us at the other side, can you imagine that?

I like this song.

Sunday, August 6th, 2006

A friend of mine showed me her brand new blog. On her blog, she has this song plays automatically.

I miss my girlfriend so much.

I’m thinking to have one DVD combo drive for my poor little Dell Inspiron 4000 laptop since last year. I have CDRW drive but it is a bit difficult here because all movies are in DVD format seldom to get them in VCD format. After considering for so long, finally I bought one from eBay Germany with my colleague’s help. They delivered it on this Tuesday and I received it on yesterday. Yeah, I have DVD combo drive now. Today, I bought myself very first TV series (of course, DVD). It was MacGyver season 1. Don’t laugh, I knew that was an old TV series but seriously I never watch it before. So, I bought it. You can laugh at, never mind is weekend now, time to rest a bit.

journeying-malaysia-lunch

My girlfriend arrived in Turku on 30th December 2005. While she was here, we prepared some Malaysian food for my colleagues. Several spices like Bat Kut Teh, curry powder for fish or meat, tandoori chicken, nasi kandar spices etc were brought here by my girlfriend from Malaysia. With that spices we prepared Bat Kut Teh, Tandoori chicken, Curry Salmon Fish (my brother said this was not correct method to cook Salmon fish) and vegetable for my colleagues and also my supervisor. Of course, my cooking skills still in primitive level, however, my colleagues told me that was their highlight in that day (are they mean the other way round? :P )
