Yes, it is rubbish again.

It is sounds like when a professional or scientific research’s report does not suit current administration, then, that report is Rubbish. Logic? Have a look on this.

It’s rubbish, says Khir 04 March, 2007

THE Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia study is “rubbish”.(refer here for the study)

That was Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Khir Toyo’s response to the study conducted by UKM’s Children and Youth Psychology specialist Dr Khaidzir Ismail which revealed that all the 887 respondents, except for one, confessed to have experienced the “pleasures of the flesh”.

“We have checked the findings and discovered that 68 per cent of its contents are lies. It’s rubbish.
………….
………….
Dr Mohd Khir said he ordered his officers to pick at random the respondents who took part in Khaidzir’s survey.***

“We picked 54 and called them up. They told our officers that they had never had sex and that they are virgins.

*** What is the privacy of the respondents here? How can that researcher surrender those respondents’ details like this? Does it violate ethical code of conduct?

I believe those respondents want to be anonymous when they answered this scientific study! Do they?

Ask yourself, if your details can be obtained by the authority in whatever surveys, whatever scientific studies, will you answer it or answer it honestly?

Can the respondent answered honestly when they received the call from Mentri Besar office? Since when Mentri Besar office has to take care scientific research also?

Scientific research is scientific research, make it clear. I doubt, who dares to answer any scientific research in Malaysia next time if their details can be reached by authority. What is the impact to the scientific society in whole Malaysia?

    indeed.

I don’t know why these politicians try to hide the fact, or even try to blur it out. Are Malaysians that dumb in general?

it’s more hilarious when he said that he “asked them” about their viriginity. LoL. Any sane human being would say no too. haha..otherwise, the MB can order a counselling session, fine, sya ria court martial, forced marriage (with the guy), and countless hours of “religious” rehabilitation. hahaha.

I dont think they manage to get the number. Have you ever fill up a survey form with you info inside?

    Frankie,

That researcher is so-called Children and Youth Psychology specialist. I think he maybe plans to follow up the research in other days or for other psychology study. Psychology research take dates to complete. Therefore, it is not surprise the researcher has their respondents’ details.

oic….but normally local university survey is initiated by lecturer but done by student.

Frankie, I refer you to one of the comments in Uncle Lim’s blog. He/She more qualify to answer your doubt here

as a psychology postrgraduate myself, i strongly agree with the comments by BPR.
although i suspect that Dr. Khaidzir may have been stuck between the devil and the deep blue sea (i.e. strong political pressure), ethics - especially those that deals with participants’ personal information - are the keystone to psychological research. without a participants’ trust that their anonymity will be protected, no decent data can be collected.
this is a shameful and an outrageous act. period.

it’s not a laughing matter, but it’s quite funny. Khir is one the the thing he said..when it comes to scientific studies, there’s no right and wrong, but you can’t accuse a person by saying he’s rubbish without any proves

  5. frankie Says:

I’m not quite sure about it, but along my 3 years study in UKM, I have filled up quite a number is survey forms. None required my phone number.

Frankie, psychology research may different. Psychology studies take time to complete. Some of them need to follow up with the participants for year or years. Therefore, scientist have to keep their participants’ details.
