Other Malaysians have their rights too 02

What a narrow minded decision by our Arts, Culture and Heritage Ministry to cancel the concert of Avril Lavigne! Don’t forget to count in the PAS Youth too. “Special” thanks to them. Anwar should worries about the outcome of the by-election in Permatang Pauh too because other Malaysians may worries base on many aggressive remarks and protests from PAS.

Malaysia is moving towards more and more conservative in many areas. Come on, IF you think this is “too sexy” for you, NO one can force you buy a ticket and watch the concert. I really don’t believe thousands of people will have their religious faith change after watch the concert! IF yes, then you are the one should be blamed because you are not confidence enough with your religion. I really hard to believe thousands of people will start to take drug, be a robber, cheating to their partners after watch her concert. Do you think so? Don’t tell me, tell them.

Have they ever respected the other 12,000,000+ Malaysians’ rights? What on earth they have the right to decide what is “too sexy” or not “too sexy” on behalf of other 12 million more (12,000,000+) Malaysians in Malaysia? Many of us are adult, we have a brain to think, to act on our own responsibility. Malaysians, do you really hate someone always applying their own MORAL values on other and forcing other must practice as what they are practicing? Don’t tell me, tell them.

This sound like communist and this is not the first times. Shame is, our Government keep on banning this and that. Curiosity killed the cat! Have they ever heard about this? Curiosity killed the cat, check the meaning if you don’t know.

How about put it this way, IF that kind of concert is consider too sexy what about SMOKING? Does it dangerous too? It causes LUNG CANCER and other diseases to smokers and non-smokers. It is killing people every year! Why the Government doesn’t BAN smoking? See the logic?

Banning this concert doesn’t help much to Malaysia. In fact, you gave Malaysia a very bad impression at in front of the World. The World will treats Malaysia as more and more conservative country and more and more events are hardly to be held in Malaysia. Maybe, one of the reasons many tourists around the World do not list Malaysia as their priority visiting destination due to this kind of move. Other people have bad impression and hardly to understand the logic of these people in Malaysia.

Malaysia is member of United Nations Human Rights Council and the decision to cancel this concert just denied other 12 millions Malaysian’s right. Again, Malaysia famous with bad reason. Thanks to PAS youth and the Arts, Culture and Heritage Ministry. The World is reading this news. Yes, with the help of technology ~ Internet.

Apparently people are pissed of by this narrow minded decision and protest.

5xmom ~ But what’s wrong with Avril Lavigne!?!

Malaysia cancels ‘too sexy’ Avril Lavigne concert
By JULIA ZAPPEI – 15 hours ago

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (AP) — Malaysia on Tuesday canceled a concert by Canadian rock singer Avril Lavigne, saying it may taint the Muslim-majority country’s independence day celebrations after the Islamic opposition slammed her show as being “too sexy.”

The Arts, Culture and Heritage Ministry said it had decided not to permit Lavigne’s show because it was unsuitable to Malaysian culture and could not be held on Aug. 29, two days ahead of independence day.

“It is not timely. It’s not in the good spirit of our National Day. If we go ahead with the concert, it is contrary to what we are preparing for,” said Shukran Ibrahim, a senior official from the culture ministry’s department that vets all foreign artists.

The decision came after the youth wing of a fundamentalist opposition party, the Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party, called for the show’s cancellation.

Kamarulzaman Mohamed, a party youth official, told The Associated Press on Monday that Lavigne’s show was “considered too sexy for us” and would promote the wrong values just before independence day.

“We don’t want our people, our teenagers, influenced by their performance. We want clean artists, artists that are good role models,” he said.

Lavigne, who became famous with her 2002 debut album “Let’s Go,” had planned to launch her monthlong Asia tour in Kuala Lumpur.

The show’s promoter, Galaxy Group, can request a new date for the concert, which will be considered by the ministry, Shukran said. Galaxy officials couldn’t be immediately reached for comment.

Galaxy began advertising the Grammy-nominated rock singer’s concert this month even though it had yet to obtain a government permit, which is mandatory for all foreign music shows. It said Monday about half the concert tickets had been sold.

Last year, R&B singer Beyonce moved her show from Malaysia to Indonesia, and Christina Aguilera skipped the country on an Asian tour after a controversy erupted over a dress code for foreign artists.

Malaysia requires all performers to wear clothes without obscene or drug-related images and be covered from the chest to the knees. They must also refrain from jumping, shouting, hugging and kissing on stage.

Still, members of PAS and other conservative Muslims often protest against Western and even Malaysian music shows that they deem to be inappropriate.

The local organizer of a Pussycat Dolls concert in 2006 was fined 10,000 ringgit (US$2,857) after the U.S. girl group was accused of flouting decency regulations.
