Global warming and tropical countries
Global warming could bring hunger, melt Himalayas
OSLO (Reuters) - Global warming could cause more hunger in Africa and melt most Himalayan glaciers by the 2030s, according to a draft U.N. report due on Friday which also warns that the poorest nations are likely to suffer most.
Yes, it is true! The world must works together to reduce usage of fossil energy. I have listened to several seminars at here. Scientists nowadays are aiming for solar fuel or clean energy.
What is clean energy? To make the long story short, no CO2 produced as by-products after energy is generated. Therefore, biomass fuel still produces CO2 as by-products. It is not good enough to replace fossil fuel. The Global warming problem remains if we keep on product CO2 as by-product.
Which countries of scientists are aiming for this solar fuel? Four seasons countries. What a shame! I can’t find tropical countries involve in this research included Malaysia. What a shame!

let me clarify a bit here. biomass is considered carbon neutral in this case. for example, palm kernel shell which are use for boiler in palm oil mill or wat ever type of biomass cogeneration, it is considered carbon neutral becoz plant absord CO2 to form this biomass. So according to UNFCCC and IPCC, they r carbon neutral, we are return it to the atmosphere, not add onto it. If u wanna argue that through out the chain of palm oil production starting from land clearing to oil extraction, then this is another story, not in this topic of discussion. Another type of Green energy is Methane gas (ch4) which produce through methanation of POME (palm oil mill effluent) under anaerobic wastewater treatment in the ponds. This methane can be used for electricity generation or simply by flaring it. Although flaring it will produce CO2, but this CO2 is considered carbon neutral. What happen if u dun flare or burn it? then CH4 is 21 times more serious then CO2. Again, all these are under UNFCCC and IPCC guideline for CDM Kyotol Protocol.
Good to know. Thanks
