Faiz: Continue space programme
KUALA LUMPUR: The Angkasawan programme should continue, with the funding shared among the relevant ministries that will benefit from the aerospace industry, suggested Mejar Dr Faiz Khaleed. The second Angkasawan said the space mission should no longer be about sending a Malaysian to space but for Malaysia to embark on the aerospace industry.
I read his words in newspaper. He said “developing research and development means investment”. It is true, R&D is an investment. But, in this case, I would rather prefer down-to-earth R&D.
Recently, we heard from our PM many projects are in reviewing, for example the Penang Second Bridge. The cost for that bridge is hike from expected RM3.6 billion (RM 3,600,000,000) to RM4.3 billion (RM4,300,000,000). IF many projects are expecting cost hike, why should we spend more? Malaysians, are you really damn rich?
I said already in my previous article and other bloggers have had their opinion voiced too (here, here). Be practical, we have so many problems indeed need to be solved urgently, for example the recent one Bac. Forensic Sci graduates are jobless, the food production cost are hike, the price of goods related to rice are hike too. We have so many fundamental problems to look after, why keep on spending money on “showing off” projects?
