Three-pronged plan to battle crime mooted

The death of eighteen-year old Tunku Abdul Rahman College (TARC) student Lee Kean Yip, fatal victim of a roadside robbery, must not be in vain and should spur the authorities to step up their fight against the rising crime rate.

For a start, the police should adopt a three-point plan involving greater police visibility, an increase in police personnel at the front line and the setting up of a National Policing Plan……

Police step up manhunt in Setapak to nab suspects

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have intensified patrols in Setapak and stepped up efforts to nab the suspects involved in snatch thefts there last week.

Acting city police chief Senior Asst Comm I Datuk Ahmad Bahrin Idrus said the overall crime situation in the city was under control but in the wake of the recent incidents, a task force was formed to nab the culprits responsible……

Newspaper published how police going to fight the crimes after that TAR College student incident. Does it sound a bit too late? A friend of mine exchanges her opinion regarding this. In her e-mail, she said: “I was talking about the media, police, the TAR colleague and community reaction on this, toooooooooo late when a youthful life just gone, last night to my husband who is a Finnish n stayed in M’sia before. I told him, staying now in Finland, I have peaceful and secured feelings.”

Yes, she is right. I can walk ahead to Express bus station (30 minutes walking distance) from my flat at here with my two baggage at 2 o’clock morning. I’m not saying Finland the best or Finland the great or holy the Finland. However, should we learn to have our society like this? Secured, peaceful society in Malaysia not only for us but also tourist, possible?

it’s always too late to talk about things when incident has happened. PM said we want this and we want that, ministers also said we want this and we want that, but where is the solid and concrete actions? no! people always talk about things when it is hot! this is malaysian…
if you want malaysia to be a place like finland, or some other countries in the world with minimal criminals, can tell you it’s a long way to go…

    Hi, Mickeyteddy. Well said.
We all knew Malaysian attitudes.I know it is a long way to go; should we start from now? Nowadays most of Malaysian are educated. I sincerely hope and cross my fingers we really look it seriuosly not just look at how much you can earn in a month. What is the point if you can so many money but the society is not safe? :)

i agree. it’s the society itself to determine which type of life they want to have. it’s the attitude of people to decide the peace of the country. if everybody performing their responsibilities and taking care of others, there will then be peace of mind for all of us.
