No powers to compel them to testify

The panel completed its three-hour meeting at 12.45pm.

At a press conference after the meeting, Haidar (left) stressed that the panel had no special powers to compel potential witnesses to testify.

He said that the panel is requesting those who can help in verifying the authenticity of the video clip to “voluntarily” come forward.

When asked whether the panel can give protection to witnesses, Shankar answered: “Truth is the best armour. Justice is the best protection.”

“No crisis, no problems. I don’t see any scandal,” he was reported as saying in the media today.
