IF this is democracy they claimed

Wednesday, March 26th, 2008

“Using” local municipal council (DBKL in this case) to “punish” people who don’t vote for you-know-what-party-is candidates? IF this is true as reported, it just tell Malaysians they are a bunch of no gentleman losers. Besides, it also tell the people who you should not vote on next General Election. They are really underestimate Malaysians. Malaysians are stupid? They thought they can still control media and stop news to spread out? Please, now is 21 century not (more…)

How many TOLL we really need?

Monday, November 5th, 2007

Where is the blue plan for the public transportation system? But, now we have the porposal for KL TOLL. How many TOLL we actually need in our nation? We have so many toll roads in Malaysia besides the other round of toll rate hike is waiting. Don’t we have enough?

Plan To Impose KL Toll To Be Discussed On Nov 27

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 4 (Bernama) — The proposal to impose charges on vehicles entering Kuala Lumpur will be discussed at a retreat involving three ministries at a posh hotel in Seri Kembangan on Nov 27.

Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Zulhasnan Rafique said: “The proposal is still with the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL).

“We will study and discuss it at the retreat to be opened by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi at Palace of the Golden Horses,” he told reporters at a Hari Raya open house at the Setiawangsa Umno Service Centre here.

Collecting money is the only way to solve the traffic jam problem? Maybe I’m too naive or talking rubbish here. (more…)

Congestion fee for KL proposed

STOCKHOLM: Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) is proposing to introduce a congestion fee on motorists.

Mayor Datuk Abdul Hakim Borhan said discussions on the matter would be held before the end of the year and a paper submitted to the Special Cabinet Committee on Public Transportation chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak early next year.

“The public may object to the proposal initially, but they will accept it after they realise the system will improve traffic conditions in the city,” he told reporters after visiting the Stockholm Traffic Control Centre yesterday.

Earlier, Stockholm traffic manager Henrik Sundquist briefed him on how the congestion fee was implemented in the city.

“There were protests when the system was first implemented in Stockholm but after a six-month trial run, it yielded results. There is no more objection,” said Abdul Hakim.

Mayor, you might forgotten to mention how well-established is the public transportation system in Stockholm. Am I wrong about that? Please correct me if I’m.

This congestion fee was mentioned on 19th December 2006 by Mayor of Kuala Lumpur City Hall on his first day in office. The question remains, does the public transportation system in town is well-established?

Please, please. Who likes to spend extra nowadays? (more…)

Selayang dog-catching competition scrapped

SELAYANG: The controversial dog catching competition by Selayang Municipal Council (MPS) in Selangor which offered prize money up to RM15,000 to the public has been called off.

However, you may want to know how gentleman the Selayang Municipal Council is when they had talk with several NGOs regarding the competition, read here for the story.

UPDATED: Why I say sound a bit too much? (I will translate it to English later, I’m busy with 32p for these few weeks)

Translated with Google Translate’s help

They want to solve the problem of stray dogs in this manner . However, how many ugly sides of human nature will be floating with the lure of money?

Dogs which have owners may also treat as stray dogs under the lure of the money, the method is simple, just removed the dog’s license tag from the dogs. So, it becomes as a stray dog.

Just afraid something may goes too far like dog with owner may treat as stray dog when it slip out from it’s owner house.

Have they ever think about these problems seriously?

Does it sound a bit too much?

BARBARIC DOG CATCHING COMPETITION

I read with horror an advertisement on the Selayang Municipal Council’s website in Malaysia. See http://www.mps.gov.my/default01.htm. This advertisement was for a Dog Catching Competition where lucrative prize money was being offered to individuals who could catch the most dogs!

How could the council even come up with such an idea? Which half sane or decent human being managed to come up with such a cruel and ridiculous idea? The competition would only encourage more cruelty towards these helpless animals. (Bear in mind that these stray dogs that are on the streets are due to our own negligence).

The website is in Malay, you can read the translation version in BARBARIC DOG CATCHING COMPETITION. Don’t listen to me, you read and you judge. (more…)

Cops told to project friendly image

PETALING JAYA: Policemen should be firm in carrying out their duties, but they should always offer a smile when dealing with the public.
This advice came from Culture, Arts and Heritage Minister Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim, who is never short of smiles.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan, however, went one step further – he directed his men in blue to comply or face disciplinary action.

Perhaps, his (IGP) message not yet arrives to them. We have another case reported now. This time we have municipal enforcement officials and police both involved. Who’s fault in this case?

How many “police” we need to keep our society in order?

UPDATED:

Rela chief: Give us more power

If he had his way, People’s Volunteer Corps (Rela) director-general Zaidon Asmuni would like to see the body equipped with even wider powers than it now holds.

“We want not only the power to check passports and travel documents. If you ask me, we want more than that. We want the power to investigate and prosecute in court,” he said in an interview.*

“But who am I to ask for this? We just follow decisions made by the top. For now, we will follow whatever is stated in the law.”

* my personal opinion, they should not give more power. We are not and we don’t prefer live in “police” country.

We have so many enforcement forces in our society. However, have these forces really help to make our society nice to stay, secure to go out, safe for kids play around, or the other way round?

Read this piece of news, do you think they are already out of line?

Food court operator sues Rela

SEREMBAN: A food court operator has filed a suit against Rela for alleged abuse of power and corruption.
Chen Yau Choy, 57, claimed that Rela officer Mohamad Yusof entered his Cahaya Food Court in Ampang, here, and displayed his firearm without any reason, scaring away customers.

Not yet, we have more to read. This really makes me feel very uncomfortable

Two days later, Mohamad came with a team of Rela officers to the food court at 9pm to detain Chen but was unsuccessful as Chen called the police.
A few hours later, Mohamad returned with his team and detained and handcuffed Chen. Chen said he was detained in a police lock-up at the Ampang police station for 11 hours.

Fine mess, says tailor in MPK incident
KLANG: Humiliated and enraged, that’s how Pua Chia Teng feels after several Klang Municipal Council (MPK) enforcement officers dragged him from his shop and bundled him into a car before taking him to the police headquarters here, all over a parking fine.

We already read many complaints against RELA for abusing their power. But, now we have to add another one, the Municipal enforcement officer.

Does Malaysia no Laws to protect the harmless citizen at all? Look at this case, a group of municipal enforcement officers walked into citizen private premises (a shop, in this case) and dragged a person out from the shop.

Wow! They are more powerful than police! Even police can’t simply walk into private premises to put a person under arrest. They must show the court warrant before they can do that. They no need, they are more powerful than the whole country enforcement force!

Peak hours levy: KL flirts with congestion fees
Vehicles entering the city centre during peak hours will have to pay a levy. But the new Datuk Bandar’s proposal differs from the restricted zones of Singapore and London, where congestion charging has dramatically freed up traffic and reduced pollution.

“There are LRT and other public transportation into the city. We might need to adjust and improve the public transport system further,” he said at his first Press conference at City Hall headquarters here yesterday.

Well, sounds like a good move to solve the heavy traffic jam in Kuala Lumpur. HOWEVER, don’t talk only. Don’t try to get your popularity through mainstream media on the first day at work! Walk to the talk! Improve the public transportation system in the city at very first. Don’t blame people drive in Kuala Lumpur city because all of us know how well the public transportation system in the town.

Don’t talk and gain the popularity only, someone did that before asked people cycle to work but do nothing. Well, to convince Malaysians use the public transportation system, can you provide this kind of services at very first place? Can you? If not, make it become true then only think to collect peak hour’s levy.

For example: An electric panel telling you what time your bus will arrives

Inhuman, cruel, uncivilized?

Thursday, November 30th, 2006

This happened at Kampung Berembang on this morning when The Ampang Jaya Municipal Council went to tore down the only remaining structure in Kampung Berembang in Ampang. No any news in mainstream newspapers yet.

Chaos reigns in Kg Berembang Nov 30, 06 1:24pm
This morning, MPAJ, armed with four bulldozers, came in to finish the job and again they faced stiff resistence from the villagers.

Villagers who tried to block the demolition were shoved and pushed aside by the MPAJ enforcement officers, who numbered more than 100. Things took an ugly turn when the police and the FRU joined the fray to beat the villagers and their supporters who were gathered there.

Women and children inside the surau were also not spared.

Eye-witnesses said the enforcement officers reacted violently against children and women. One woman who had locked herself with a steel chain to the surau was forcibly removed.

When the dust settles, Kampung Berembang looked like a battle zone with villagers fallen to the ground, some crying in pain, some unconscious and some hurt after the beating.
