Mohd Johari expressed disappointment with the police for their delay in handing over investigation papers for his evaluation. He said that normally, he had 15 days to assess a case. Last month, he claimed he only had between three and six days to evaluate 23 cases.

“The police were late in handing over their reports to me. I did not have enough time to assess the cases.”

Mohd Johari said that sometimes suspects were released by the police even before their cases were referred to him.

Deputy Internal Security Minister Datuk Mohd Johari Baharum said the public is partly to be blamed for snatch thefts. Besides, women to be blamed for snatch thefts too because women like to carry expensive handbags and wear clothes that invite trouble.
