More Chinese primary schools

IPOH: More Chinese primary schools will be built in highly-populated areas, said Deputy Education Minister Datuk Hon Choon Kim.

Speaking to reporters after visiting SJK (C) Sam Chai here, Hon, however, declined to reveal the number that would be built or where they would be located.

“Although I know the details, it should not come from my mouth.

“Wait a little while longer. The good news will be announced soon,” Hon said.

“Good news” was announced today. Guess you maybe can read this “good news” in Chinese mainstream newspapers and certain English daily only. (more…)

Will you help an old man to do so?

Will you do him a favour in this case? I believe his words will not appear in the mainstream media.

“Help Umno cleanse itself”

Don’t vote party; vote candidates who are straight, not corrupt. “I have given up hope on Umno cleansing itself from within,” Dr M told a press conference after the launch of his latest book, Dr Mahathir’s Selected Letters to World Leaders, in Putrajaya yesterday.

Let’s clean up BN and Umno: Dr M

Former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad is on yet another mission - this time to promote a ‘clean-up’ of the ruling Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition, in particular the dominant party Umno.

In this respect, he expressed the hope that BN supporters will not vote in “corrupt and inefficient” leaders in the next general election.

mahathir selected letters book launch 300108 rostrum”I’m trying to promote a cleansing of the (coalition) by the people because it seems that it is not possible (for BN to cleanse itself),” said Mahathir when asked what role he would play in the polls.

“Should people name some deadwood or some corrupt person as a candidate, BN supporters should not support them. That is the way we can clean the…BN and Umno.

“There is no hope that Umno can clean itself from within. Everything is controlled now. Any contrary view (that party members) make would be contained.”

Government Efficiency: Malaysia Sixth Best In The World, Says PM

PUTRAJAYA, Jan 28 (Bernama) — The Malaysian government’s efficiency is improving and rated sixth best in the world in 2007, compared to its eighth placing in year 2000, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said.

Quoting the World Competitiveness Year Book, released by IMD, a Switzerland-based leading global business school, Abdullah said Malaysia which was measured in the group of countries with a population of 20 million and above, was ranked better than the United Kingdom, Germany, Thailand, Spain, Japan, Russia and France.

“Above us are China, Canada, the USA, India and Taiwan,” he said when addressing about 8,000 civil servants at the 8th Civil Servants’ Premier Gathering (Mappa) here Monday.

Congratulations! :celebrate: We are ranked better in the group of countries with a population of 20 million and above.

An extra question here, What is our rank in the overall economic competitiveness rankings?

One step at a time

I learned this news from Nerdy Science Blog.

Janda Baik site for stem cell manufacturing facility

KUANTAN: Pahang will host the world’s largest stem cell manufacturing facility when US-based Bio-Cellular Research Organisation (BCRO) sets up operations in Janda Baik, Bentong, this year.

The deal will be formalised in a memorandum of understanding to be signed between the state government-owned Pahang Technology Resources Sdn Bhd (PTR) and BCRO Stem Cell Xenotransplantation Sdn Bhd tomorrow.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi is expected to witness the signing ceremony.

Frankly, what can we prove to the World if we only can build the highest, the largest facility(ies)? Now, this is another Biotechnology project had launched.

I think we deserve much better than “empty promises”. Read from the news, they said “when” and “this year”, when is the real date? Who knows? How many ghost science projects we should pay for? How about BioValley?

I may sound pessimistically here, I sincerely wish them prove me wrong. (more…)

No permit for Protest rally - No surprise

Friday, January 25th, 2008

No surprise to this. IF PDRM is granted a permit for this kind of protest, I believe it will be a HUGE surprise in Malaysia.

They explained they are not in favour of government nor UMNO but safety of the public.

No permit for Protes rally

KUALA LUMPUR: The police will not allow the Coalition Against Inflation (Protes) to stage a price hike rally tomorrow despite Protes informing police about the rally.

Dang Wangi OCPD Asst Comm Zulkarnain Abdul Rahman said police would not allow the rally, which is to take place in front of KLCC.

“We have not issued any permit as their letter to us does not meet our requirements. As such the gathering will be deemed illegal and we advise the public against participating in any way,” he said.

He said all roads leading to and near KLCC would be cordoned off in the morning and only be reopened when it was considered safe.

PM asks for fresh mandate

KUALA LUMPUR: Give me more time to deliver what I have promised, said Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.

In asking the people for a fresh mandate, the Prime Minister said his Government was just in the process of implementing almost all the programmes it promised.

The programmes would take years to show results, he said.

“These are things that are not easy and take time to accomplish,” he said, adding that the programmes were not only confined to five-year plans in the 9th Malaysia Plan.

They included development programmes, vision plans and national economic policies that took as long as 30 years, he said.

“We never focused on a five-year plan and later think of others. We have to plan beyond that.

“Some development and vision plans overlap and some need a long time to produce results,” he told reporters after a briefing for 3,000 Umno division members at the Putra World Trade Centre.

How many times he had requested that? Have you keep the track? Will you give him more time? I don’t know (learned from the best), don’t look at me. (more…)

International warranty

Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008

“Should I write this in my blog?” this is a question in my mind for months. Sharing a lesson I learned with RM3000 paid.

UPDATED

I received emails again before Christmas and after Christmas 2007.
Seriously, if you were me, will you send back the laptop?

This laptop has one year full warranty + 2 years limited international warranty; however, in less than 9 months this matter happened. The Technical Support in Malaysia was concluded it is not cover by warranty and I have to pay everything. What is the point to have so-called Warranty? I feel very ironic.

NEC-VERSA-S3200

I bought my laptop (NEC Versa S3201) during PIKOM PC Fair in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in April 2007. When I bought this laptop I really concern about the International warranty. NEC sale representative told me that I can claim my warranty even I’m in Europe. I’m very sure about that because I really concern it. After double confirmed with NEC sale representative about the warranty I made my mind and bought this laptop.

However, in less than a month I had to claim my laptop warranty due to a defect on my laptop. I even had to send my laptop personally to NEC Customer Service Centre in Penang then had on site service in Puchong, Selangor.

Worse, in less than 12 months, I’m facing another problem at here; this time I just learned I paid RM3000 to buy a lesson. (more…)

Showing loyalty, is that a must?

Sunday, January 20th, 2008

After Hindraf rally last year, we heard so many “cares”, “actions” were proposed in order to take care Indian society. MIC claimed that they had played an important role on that (if you have noticed that, those “cares” only appeared on surface suddenly after the rally), including this one too?

Indians Will Once Again Back BN In Polls, Says Samy Vellu

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 20 (Bernama) — MIC president Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu today declared in the presence of the Prime Minister and over 21,000 party members and supporters that the MIC is more than ready to face the upcoming general election.

An upbeat Samy Vellu also pledged to deliver the Indian votes to the Barisan Nasional (BN).

Samy Vellu said he had been criss-crossing the country recently, holding gatherings with MIC members, community leaders and interested groups, and “the mood is very favourable to us (BN)”.

Addressing the party’s mammoth gathering in the run-up to the imminent general election at the Badminton Stadium in Cheras here, the Works Minister said he was confident the Indian voters would once again give their full backing to the Barisan.

“Let us show to the country that the Indian community fully supports the Prime Minister and the Barisan Nasional.

“Let us prove in the general election that our destiny rests solely with Umno, MCA and other Barisan component parties,” he told the crowd, comprising mostly youths carrying banners and placards expressing support for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and Barisan.

Samy Vellu called on the Indians to unite and continue to back the Barisan government for their continued survival.

Why you need to show LOYALTY? Are we practising Feudalism (封建制)? (more…)
