About public universities

Wednesday, April 11th, 2007

I read this post from Uncle Lim’s Blog. Someone tells the stories inside public universities now.

Another time, all the academic staff, including the Dean, ganged up against me because I had managed to published a paper in a leading international journal. Immediately after my name was mentioned by the VC as an example, the Dean started telling other academic staff that I did not “contribute enough” to the faculty.

I was under the impression that I was there to do research and publish but for these people, who cannot do research, the priority was on social events. This Dean was not even an academic in the first place but was a civil servant before he was appointed Dean. All the academics he has appointed since he became Dean all come from his state and all are local graduates. So how to improve?

This is the culture practising in public universities now. Believe it or not, you are free to decide. I was there and experienced it before; therefore, I can understand his/her feeling.

Bloggers may have to register, Malaysian bloggers told

Thursday, April 5th, 2007

Bloggers may have to register
AT THE DEWAN RAKYAT
BLOGGERS using locally hosted websites may be asked to register with the authorities, Deputy Energy, Water and Communications Minister Datuk Shaziman Abu Mansor said.
He said registration was one of the measures the Government was considering to prevent the spread of negative or malicious content on the Internet.
Shaziman said this while winding up the debate on the motion of thanks on the Royal Address for his ministry.
* He added that the ministry did not have any problem with bloggers who identified themselves, and he welcomed blogging activities.

* He welcome blogging activities? Or the other way round? Read other bloggers feedback in theStar also. Internet era or stone age?

Malaysians so easy to be influenced or Malaysians are not well educated to differentiate between good and bad?

Malaysians, do you really need Government to decide everything for you? Are you can’t handle yourself properly even though you are an adult?

I’m puke to it!

I heard about this hoax from friend of mine at 5:20pm (local time). First came in my mind was what happen actually?

Congestion On Penang Bridge After Bomb Hoax
PENANG, April 4 (Bernama) — A massive traffic jam lasting more than two hours occurred on the Penang Bridge from 4.45pm today when police closed both lanes on the bridge after receiving a call about a bomb being placed on the bridge this afternoon.

I think many would like to know why the bomb there rather than the story.

Before this news appeared in Bernama, international media already highlighted on website.

Machap by-election

machap by-election
source: Malaysiakini

“中莱敢讲,敢做又敢当,冠英只讲,不做,不敢当”

Literally translate is

Tiong Lai dares to say, dare to do, and dare to bear the responsibility. Guan Eng just talk, not action and not dare to bear the responsibility.

A little bit reviews perhaps can refresh your memories how dare he is. Feel free (feel free only) to click on here and here.

I’m not favourite in neither DAP nor MCA. However, MCA is in the administration. They can (or should) do more than those opposition parties. If they can’t who else? But, in reality? You see, I see.

Global warming and tropical countries

Global warming could bring hunger, melt Himalayas
OSLO (Reuters) - Global warming could cause more hunger in Africa and melt most Himalayan glaciers by the 2030s, according to a draft U.N. report due on Friday which also warns that the poorest nations are likely to suffer most.

Yes, it is true! The world must works together to reduce usage of fossil energy. I have listened to several seminars at here. Scientists nowadays are aiming for solar fuel or clean energy.

What is clean energy? To make the long story short, no CO2 produced as by-products after energy is generated. Therefore, biomass fuel still produces CO2 as by-products. It is not good enough to replace fossil fuel. The Global warming problem remains if we keep on product CO2 as by-product.

Which countries of scientists are aiming for this solar fuel? Four seasons countries. What a shame! I can’t find tropical countries involve in this research included Malaysia. What a shame!

RM2500 a month is not enough

800,000 civil servants moonlighting
KOTA BARU: Many civil servants, who earn RM2,500 or less a month, have to do extra jobs to make ends meet, claims Cuepacs. The union estimated that about 800,000 of its 2.1 million members have taken up additional jobs. For instance, about 10% of the taxi drivers in the Klang Valley are civil servants, said Cuepacs president Omar Osman.

First, WOW !!! We have so many civil servants in Malaysia, almost 10% of Malaysia population is civil servants. The services must FAST and GREAT. Well, you see, I see.

Second, The Cuepacs said RM2,500 or less a month is not enough and they ask for salary revision. How about non-civil servants who earn RM2,000 or less a month? My family members and many Malaysians are belonging to this group. IF someone earn RM2,500 or less a month already feel hard to survive then you can imagine how others’ life in Malaysia.

Read this post 5xmom, no more from 5xmom through my Google reader yesterday.

But recently, I had been getting nauseous, giddy and all those shitty feelings. I don’t mean to ignore some of you on MSN. I don’t mean to show my temper. I shouldn’t act like a blog diva and tell you guys, “Like I care I have one less reader.”

The first thought immediately in my mind was she is pregnant. Wow! great news, man. Without wasting any time, I accessed to her blog and said congratulation to her.

This morning, came across to this post Pregnant from 5xmom through Google reader. Log on to her blog and read. Bet, what happen?
