Barisan reps asked to hand in passports for study trip

PUTRAJAYA: Barisan Nasional MPs have been asked to submit their passports for an overseas study trip ahead of Sept 16, the date that is being bandied about for supposed defections to take place.
Backbenchers Club chairman Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing said the trip was the brainchild of the club but rejected suggestions that it was organised because of the Sept 16 claim.
“The trip came about after a few of our members got talking. We wanted MPs to update themselves with the latest information about agriculture and high-tech food production so that we can debate better on the Budget when Parliament sits again in October.
“This is the best time for the trip although it is the fasting month because after that, Hari Raya celebrations begin and Parliament will meet again,” he told The Star here yesterday.[......]

Dr Sheikh Muszaphar’s research work patented
PUTRAJAYA: The results of one of Malaysia’s five research works conducted at the International Space Station (ISS) last year has been patented by other countries - proof that the country can make a significant contribution to the world in the field of science and research.
Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk Maximus Ongkili said the results of protein crystallisation, research headed by Prof Dr Raja Noor Zaliha Raja Abd Rahman of Unitersiti Putra Malaysia, has been patented not only by Malaysia but also in Europe, the United States and Japan.[......]

KEPALA BATAS: Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi will personally see to it that Bukit Bendera Umno chief Datuk Ahmad Ismail does not repeat his remarks about the Chinese community.
“I will tell him not to do it again. You know in a campaign all sorts of things can come up. I don’t think he meant it. I’ll make sure to tell him not to use it again,” the Prime Minister said after chairing the Bertam Umno division meeting yesterday.[......]

Today Malaysia celebrates the 51st anniversary of independence day.
I’m not really have mood to celebrate it after I read the 2007 Auditor-General’s report. It is so sad to read so much money were spent “wrongly” or “missing” or “corrupted”, so many mismanagement, so many to say. Just imagine, how much money we have lost due this so-called “best” management system? We are NOT proud with this, are you?
